UNCG faculty are encouraged to actively seek out external funding to support their scientific research, scholarly activities and educational needs. A good place to start your search for federal funding is Grants.gov. This tool is a one-stop shop that includes all federal funding opportunities and assists eligible applicants with application submission to the following 26 federal agencies:

State Funding
Governmental granting agencies within the state of North Carolina provide funding for accepted projects. Funds for grantees are supplied by the North Carolina State Treasury, and are therefore subject to state guidelines, compliance, and requirements which are monitored by the State Office of Budget and Management.

Foundation Funding
Interested in seeking foundation support for your project? Below are some foundations to consider. Remember, just like federal agencies, foundations have specific areas of interest. Read each website to see if your project is a fit. If you’re not sure, contact your OSP Grants Specialist and we can help investigate using tax returns for the foundation. Sometimes local foundations are the most challenging, but if you are a good fit and can make a personal connection with a board or staff member through the process, then they can be an invaluable source of programmatic and financial support.
