Data Acquisition, Management, and Sharing Best Practices

Speakers: Dr. Martin Halbert

This interactive workshop is for researchers with current or anticipated responsibilities in data  acquisition, management, or sharing.  The workshop is designed to:
  • Offer practical advice for those seeking to use either disciplinary or free generalist data repositories for sharing research data generated by projects
  • Share insights regarding NSF & NIH submission and review criteria for proposal DMSP (Data Management and Sharing Plans)
  • Contextualize and discuss the different stages of research data acquisition and management using the NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) Research Data Framework (RDaF) Version 2.0
  • Provide researchers with a group forum to discuss the challenges and opportunities they are experiencing with research data
The workshop instructor Dr. Martin Halbert recently completed a fourth rotation with the National Science Foundation as a Program Director overseeing competitions and review panels, served as the agency’s chief Science Advisor for Public Access, and was a member of the agency’s Research Security Liaisons group.
